Planet Formation in the Presence of Disk Gas

I will review recent progress in the field of planet formation with an emphasis on the dynamical impact of interactions between solids and gas, including pebble accretion.  In this context, I will discuss ways in which the initial conditions for planet formation are informed by recent studies of protoplanetary disks with ALMA.  Finally, I will discuss how variations in planetary system properties with stellar metallicity may help us constrain planet formation models.
